PEI Faculty Seminar: The New Wilderness with Jeff Whetstone

Jeff Whetstone, Professor of Visual Arts in the Lewis Center for the Arts and PEI associated faculty, will present, “The New Wilderness,” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Guyot Hall, Room 10. Lunch will be served at noon in the Guyot Atrium.

Whetstone will draw on film and photographs from his PEI-funded documentary about New Orleans and the Lower Mississippi River, “The Batture Ritual,” to discuss the tense balance between people and landscape — between the wild and the controlled — and depict a natural world from which humans are inextricable. Whetstone is the second speaker in the Fall 2018 PEI Faculty Seminar Series.

This event is free to the public.
