Bradford Seminar: “The Inflation Reduction Act: Triumphs, Challenges, and the Pursuit of True Environmental Justice”

Dana Johnson, senior director of Strategy and Federal Policy at WE ACT for Environmental Justice , will present “The Inflation Reduction Act: Triumphs, Challenges, and the Pursuit of True Environmental Justice.” This seminar will be held in-person (PUID holders only) and available via livestream (open to all).

Understanding the importance and complexities and once-in-a-generation opportunities of IRA, WE ACT for Environmental Justice launched the Justice40rward Campaign. This initiative educates communities about funding opportunities from the IRA, spanning sectors from clean energy to housing and pollution control. We’ve taken this campaign on the road, with tours across the nation in places such as Kansas, Michigan, Alaska, Texas, and New York. We’ve also hosted webinars with leaders such as U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Dr. Henry McCord with the U.S. Department of Energy, and Senator Markey (D-MA). Gain invaluable insights on what we’ve learned through these important conversations about accessing the available investments in communities at the forefront of climate impacts and the cumulative impacts of pollution.

Johnson serves as Senior Director of Strategy and Federal Policy at WE ACT for Environmental Justice and leads an advocacy, regulatory and policy-setting team. She has successfully helped shape the environmental industry narrative in the areas of clean air, healthy homes, water quality, energy democracy, and transportation standards. A sought after thought leader, Dana has moderated conversations about equitable policy-making on behalf of the New York Bar Association and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Water Club. She also conceptualized and co-hosted an environmental justice education series on Clubhouse titled All Heat, No Shade. This series built awareness of President Biden’s Climate Executive Orders and his “whole of government” approach to addressing environmental justice and the climate crisis. Dana is a Board Member of Green 2.0 – a non-profit organization that believes that the voices and leadership of a powerful environmental movement must be as diverse as the causes’ it champions. She also is on the Advisory Council of the State Energy & Impact Center of NYU School of Law.

This event is part of the David Bradford Energy and Environmental Policy Seminar Series organized by the Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment (C-PREE) in the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and co-sponsored by the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI).
